2. Function:

   • Deoxidation: Ferro silicon is commonly used as a deoxidizing agent in steelmaking processes to remove oxygen from the molten metal. It reacts with oxygen to form stable oxides, which are then removed as slag, improving the cleanliness and quality of the steel.
   • Desulfurization: In addition to deoxidation, ferro silicon also has desulfurizing properties, helping to reduce the sulfur content of the molten metal by forming stable sulfides that can be removed as slag.
